No-Code Database
November 2022 - July 2023
When I joined NocoDB, I noticed a significant gap in the design aspect. My task was to create a user-friendly, aesthetically appealing, and functional product. To accomplish this, I embarked on an extensive research process to develop a completely new design strategy and methods.
During my time as a Product Designer at NocoDB, we made significant progress. We transformed the product into a user-friendly, aesthetic and functional product with minimal design. Researching, analyzing feedback, and collaborating with the development team were crucial steps in achieving the best outcome.
Flows
Flows represent the steps a user takes to accomplish a task within a product or application. Optimizing these steps enables users to navigate and achieve their goals smoothly and efficiently. Therefore, considering and improving flows is crucial in the design process.

Identifying their challenges in achieving their goals and making design adjustments to address these issues significantly improved the user experience. Furthermore, I continuously iterated and improved the flows.
Icons
I have created three different icons to allow users to quickly identify the type of project they are viewing on the initial interface: "Document", "Database", and "Interface".
When designing these icons, I considered factors such as simplicity, recognizability, and visual distinctiveness. Each icon incorporates symbols that represent the nature of the project and allows users to easily identify the project visually. By playing with colors, shapes, and elements, I ensured that users can quickly understand the nature of the projects by glancing at the icons.
Settings
The settings screen provides users with the ability to customize and manage their workspaces and personal information. This screen allows users to tailor their experiences to their own needs and preferences.

During the design process, my aim was to make it easy for users to find and modify the settings they desire. Therefore, I made efforts to make the Settings screen user-friendly and easily accessible through organization and categorization. Logical arrangement of the settings enabled users to quickly find what they are looking for.
States
I have designed a captivating and user-friendly screen for users when they have no projects in NocoHub. Rather than opting for a conventional approach, I have created a unique and engaging experience to ensure users don't feel bored or disconnected.

The empty state screen is the first impression users encounter when they have no projects or content in their Dashboard. It plays a crucial role in setting the tone for the user experience and ensuring users feel welcomed and motivated to take action.
In designing this screen, my goal was to create an experience that not only addressed the absence of content but also provided value and encouragement to users. Instead of presenting a generic "empty" message, I focused on turning this empty canvas into an opportunity for exploration and discovery.
By considering users' needs, providing visual appeal, and encouraging exploration, I have created a welcoming and captivating experience for users when they have no projects.
In conclusion, I embraced a minimalist and simple design approach because I believe that the most powerful form of design lies in simplicity and functionality. This project aimed to enhance the user experience by presenting an aesthetic stripped of complex details.
I carefully considered every design decision and worked meticulously to eliminate unnecessary elements. My minimalist approach allowed me to focus on clean lines and a limited number of elements. Each design element had to have a clear and specific function. In doing so, I created an interface that is easily understood by users, further enhancing their experience.
Furthermore, I designed an efficient user interface to increase functionality and improve the user experience. Functionality and usability were the pillars of my design process. By conducting research and user testing to understand users' needs and meet them effectively, I aimed to create a user-friendly design.
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”
